Monmouth Council Pinewood Derby Race

May 15th 6:00 PM at Bell Works in Holmdel

The Pinewood Derby began in 1953, when Cubmaster Don Murphy of Pack 280C in California created a miniature racing event to bring families together. His idea quickly spread, and by 1955 it became an official Cub Scout tradition.

Today, millions of Scouts build and race their own wooden cars each year—celebrating creativity, teamwork, and family fun.

Event Reminders

• Plenty of options to purchase food and drink at Bell Works.

• Scouts must be present to race and to have standing in the Council Pinewood Derby.

• Be prepared to stand throughout the event; you may want to bring a chair for comfort during the races.

• Race rules for the Council Pinewood Derby are established by the Activities Committee.
