Scouting For Food

What is Scouting for Food?
Scouting for Food is an annual food-collection drive hosted by Scouting America Councils throughout the country.
It’s a great way for Scouts to make an impact in their community while doing a good turn.

Scouting for Food is one of nation’s largest food drives that Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturing Crews participate in to support their local food pantries and hunger-relief agencies.

The food drive, which collects non-perishable items, provides much-needed resources to help fight hunger in our communities. One out of five children and one out of every twelve households with seniors go hungry in New Jersey and an estimated 900,000 people rely on food banks just to survive.

All Scouting units are encouraged to participate in the annual Scouting for Food Drive community service initiative.

Before collecting donations, contact your local food pantry to confirm their needs, delivery procedures, and drop-off arrangements. Please share this form with your District Executives to help coordinate efforts across the district.

Scouting for Food is a Four Step Process

Step 1: Notify your community using the flyer and bags we supply to you. Request your bags and flyers using the “Scouting for Food” form.

Step 2: Return to the same houses one week later and collect their donations.

Step 3: Deliver all non-expired donations to a local food pantry

Step 4: Report your service hours. (how to report your service hours)
